Prois Hunting Apparel for Women jumped onto the scene in 2008 with what women hunters have long been missing - high performance and technical huntwear that is engineered for women who are serious about the hunt. Providing athletic cuts and fabrics, this gear is designed to withstand the rigorous hunt. With many women’s hunting apparel companies emerging, what sets Prois apart from the pack? According to Kirstie Pike, founder and president, “It is simply a matter of providing the women’s hunting apparel market with gear that is comparable to the quality and function of gear already made for men. It is engineered to be rugged. It is designed to be athletic. And most importantly, it is made for the female form.” Pike goes on to add, “Historically, women came up short when finding hunting apparel. Choices either involved women’s gear that looked great, but did not offer high performance fabrics or components. Without any technical women’s gear available, women then were left looking toward the men’s apparel which is ill-fitting and often a hindrance in the field.” Prois created many signature components and combined them with top of the line fabrics.
• Fabrics: Considerable time was spent in field trials determining the perfect fabrics for our hunting apparel. We are pleased to present fabrics that allow wicking, water resistance, wind resistance, silence, warmth and comfort. In fact, after field trials, some fabric choices and liners were revised. For example, jackets were re-engineered with nylon tricot lining to aid in efficiency of movement when layering clothing. The tricot lining was not only added in the torso, but down the entire length of the arms for ease of movement when shouldering a gun or drawing a bow. Camouflage patterns currently utilized are Realtree Advantage Max 1 and Realtree AP.
• Prois’ Scapular Pockets: Strategically designed to carry activated heat packs that rest comfortably between the shoulder blades. Heat application to the highly vascular area on the body increases delivery of warmth throughout the torso, aiding in the body’s own thermoregulation. Scapular pockets include a pillowcase closure on the top to keep them from slipping out. They are engineered into all prois vests and jackets.
• Lumbar Compartments: Deep lumbar compartments have been developed for packing additional gear and have also been implemented into all jackets and vests. This compartment is designed over the entire lumbar region of the back and up to the shoulder blades for improved packing efficiency. Designed to carry softgoods such as hats, gloves and neck gaiters, it has been designed for other applications useful on the hunt. The lumbar compartment can also be used to house activated heat warmers on those cold days. An added engineering feature, the compartment can be opened to function as a vent as the heat of the day increases.
• Thumbholes: A small but very important detail to huntwear. All Prois jackets and long sleeve shirts are designed with thumbholes placed at the cufflines. These thumbholes are multi-functional. They provide added warmth. They provide additional concealment. They provide a means for the clothing to move fluidly with the arm when stalking, shouldering a gun or drawing a bow.
• Magnetic Snap Closures: Spacious cargo pockets on our pants on sleeves of our Pro-Edition jackets are designed with whisper-quiet magnetic closures. This allows easy access without fighting snaps as well as silence not allowed by zippers or Velcro.
• Deep Cargo Pockets: Designed to maximize storage and provide ease of access.
• 3-Panel Removable Hood: Utilized on our Pro-Edition line, this hood hugs the contours of the head and is equipped with a soft visor. This hood can be removed via zipper should the wearer decide it is not needed.
• Cord Lock and Elastic Cuff Closures: all pants are designed with elastic drawstring at the hemline. This allows the user to cinch the pants tight to the boot, then secure it on the inside margin of the cuffline with a cordlock device.
• Boot Zips: Pro-Edition pants are equipped with boot zippers at the lower leg to ease in boot access.
• Layering: They key to thermoregulation is layering. Prois has designed all pieces to accommodate layering and work together to provide the user with maximum function throughout the hunt.
• Fit: Prois gear has attractive, athletic, feminine cuts that compliment the female form but still provide maximum work in the field.
• Eliminator Series: waterproof line launching fall 2008. Soft, silent tricot shell with breathable laminate lining. Waterproof zippers and seam taping allow maximum performance. |
